Learn How a CEREC Dentist Can Restore Your Smile

You may have heard a lot about CEREC crowns and procedures lately. If you have problems with your teeth, your dentist may suggest this method of restoration. There are advantages to get same-day crowns that you will not find with their traditional counterparts. Your dentist will help you understand the benefits and challenges of these procedures.

Issues that CEREC® can address

Most people strive to achieve a beautiful smile. Unfortunately, some problems can hamper these goals. Injuries, accidents and poor oral hygiene can lead to severe tooth decay. This can eventually break down teeth, causing rotting or structural damage. Crowns can restore the form and function of broken or weakened teeth. These caps can also protect vulnerable teeth against further damage. CEREC crowns can also be useful to place over a tooth after a root canal or with dental implants.

Differences between same-day crowns and traditional ones

In past years, it took two or three appointments for a patient to get crowns. With traditional crowns, the patient first consults with the dentist about the procedure. Then, the dentist takes X-rays and makes impressions of the person’s mouth. With this information, a technician fabricates a natural-looking crown out of ceramic or porcelain. This process usually takes a couple of weeks. The patient returns to the office so the dentist can place the crown in their mouth.

When it comes to CEREC same-day crowns, the dentist uses computer technology to make the caps in the office. The dentist takes digital 3-D X-rays of the patient’s mouth. A computer relays the pictures to a milling machine, which makes the crown out of a ceramic block. The crown is virtually identical to the surrounding teeth in size, shape and color.

Making teeth strong again

Whether from poor oral health or an injury, a broken tooth can cause significant problems. Patients with this issue will feel pain and discomfort. It will be difficult to eat and speak normally. These concerns can hamper a person’s smile. A CEREC crown fortifies the weakened tooth, helping to prevent further damage to it.

Revamping the patient’s smile

Large chips or cracks in a tooth can be embarrassing for anyone. A fractured tooth will not only hurt, but it will stand out in the person’s mouth. CEREC crowns cover these blemishes, making a smile look as good as new. Because the crown will appear like the surrounding teeth, other people will not detect that it is artificial.

No need to wait any longer

Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. If you have broken or misshapen teeth, visit with your dentist so you can discuss CEREC same-day crowns. Patients of all ages have experienced the benefits of this restorative treatment. Instead of waiting for a few weeks, you can have a new smile in one day. Rather than go back and forth to the dentist’s office multiple times, do it all in one visit. Make an appointment today and begin your smile makeover.
